Our Programs

Idle Reduction Initiative

A program that promotes healthy air quality by encouraging community members to turn off their engines while parked.  Area schools, day care centers, and other businesses in the Winchester-Frederick County area have installed free Valley AIRNow Healthy Air Zone street signs to promote this idle reduction program.  To date, a total of 85 signs are being displayed around the community.  For your free sign, send an email request to info@valleyairnow.com

Valley AIRCorps

A business outreach program that creates and nurtures clean air partnerships with Winchester-Frederick County businesses, spreads the word about our air quality challenges, and provides valuable public health networking. The center of the program is membership in the Air Quality Action Day Network (AQAD)--a network to inform the public of health risks on Code Orange Action Days and to take simple steps to reduce smog-inducing emissions.  To sign up, visit the AIRCorps registration page.

Clean Air Champions

A hands-on program designed to educate motorists about the benefits of improving air quality by reducing fuel consumption and ozone generation through proper car maintenance.  Interactive activities, such as a vehicle simulator and tire pressure measurement lesson, are used during presentations to enhance learning.  Email info@valleyairnow for more information.

Air Quality Action Day (AQAD) network

An informational, public health network of area businesses, media, government, and individuals who are registered to receive alerts when unhealthy air quality is expected.  To join the network, please send your name, email address and/or fax number to info@valleyairnow.com.  Please title your message, "enrollment in AQAD network."

Clean Diesel Network

Similar to our Valley AIRCorps program, the Clean Diesel Network (CDN) is a voluntary, business outreach program that creates and nurtures clean air partnerships, particularly with area members of the mobile freight industry.  CDN was created for trucking companies, independent drivers, truck stops, gas stations, and rest areas operating in Winchester-Frederick County and traveling within the Shenandoah Valley.  Contact info@valleyairnow.com for more information.
